In The Upcoming Edition of QST... |
Hi everyone! I just recieved some very kind words from Steve Ford (Editor of QST magazine) informing me another of my articles will be included in Februarys edition of QST. I told him it was an honor each and every time our clubs' name appeared in their publication. Here is an excerpt: "They didn’t have to wait long because the huge wedge took shape as the rotating wall got organized. The people scattered and headed for shelter. I got back into my truck and followed the infant twister. It formed just northwest of the town and skidded by Velma’s outskirts without any significant damage. It spun and kicked up an organic debris field, and finally dissipated about 5 miles from its conception." In addition, Steve asked me to write a column for their "Emergency Communications" issue, coming out this summer. I gleefully accepted. I hope you all, are as excited as I am. I think public exposure is vitally important to the success of our clubs' mission, and that our communities are aware that we are here and ready when they need us. Thousands of subscribers read QST monthly (not to mention shelf sales.) And this isn't the first time our club has appeared in its' pages. Only recently, our club Chaplain, Claude Williams, was featured with an instructive article on mobile laptop mounts. And we have made its' pages even before that, as well. National club recognition is a lofty goal for any Public Information Officer. I feel our club is significant...its' purpose, crucial...and its' members exhibit the highest levels of integrity and genuine concern that any all volunteer association could ever hope for. And my intent (and function), for the remainder of my appointment is to let people know about it. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas. ~B~
