Overview

Simplex is a term used in Amateur Radio to indicate that you both send and receive on the same frequency. Using this mode of transmission, especially on VHF bands, typically implies that all participants are in a relativly close proximity to one another (eg., in the same town). As it turns out here in Southern Oklahoma, we can typically cover a fairly large area with simplex.

As described on Southern Oklahoma Simplex, there is a local group (with quite a bit of overlap of SOARESSS members) that use 145.580 MHz simplex within our region. Sometimes it's just used to rag chew (chat over local goings on). Sometimes it's used to tell other DX'ers in the area about good conditions on various bands.
